About the Opportunity
Parkes Shire Council is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented employee to undertake an internal secondment as Property Officer for a period of eight (8) months (April to December), working two (2) days per week (Monday and Friday).
This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to Council’s diverse property portfolio valued at approximately $115 million across the Shire. The role plays a critical part in ensuring Council’s property assets are effectively managed and compliant with the Local Government Act 1993.
In this varied and rewarding role, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of Council’s Property Register, land classification registers and Crown land reporting. You will also be involved in a broad range of property-related activities including leasing and licensing, sales and acquisitions, road closures and facility management.
This secondment provides excellent professional development for employees looking to expand their experience in property administration, governance compliance and asset management within local government and is a key component of Council's commitment to succession planning and talent development.

About You
The successful applicant will require strong interest in financial management, asset accounting and attention to detail and analytical thinking.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Vocational qualifications in Business Administration or a related discipline
- Currently working at Parkes Shire Council
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, including proven negotiation, problem-solving and conflict and dispute resolution skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent standard of IT literacy and advanced computer and software skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, and IT based communication systems.
- Current and maintained NSW Drivers Licence
It will be highly desirable if you possess any of the following:
- Minimum of two (2) years experience
- Knowledge of the role, functions and responsibilities of Local Government

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment.
The role has been evaluated as being Grade 11 of the Council's salary structure and offers a starting salary of $41.08 per hour which includes 12% superannuation.
