About the Opportunity

Parkes Shire Council is looking for permanent full-time Labourers to join our Operations team

These roles involve performing a wide range of manual tasks under the direction of the Works Supervisors, contributing significantly to the Council's civil construction services and infrastructure projects.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out general labouring tasks to support council projects
  • Assist in the construction and maintenance of council assets and infrastructure
  • Operating plant and equipment as required
  • Ensuring all work complies with safety standards and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate records of work activities
  • Engaging in team activities and contributing to a positive team environment
  • Other duties as required by Parkes Shire Council

About You

The successful applicant requires strong communication and teamwork skills. The nature of this position may require you to start work early and/or finish work late as work activities may be undertaken at outlying locations within the Shire. 

To be successful in this position you will need:

  • Current and maintained NSW Driver’s Licence
  • SafeWork NSW Construction induction (White Card)
  • Relevant experience in civil construction and/or labouring.

It will be highly favorable if you possess any of the following:

  • Ability to use hand tools and operate small plant equipment
  • Basic literacy, numeracy, and electronic device usage skills

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment. 

The role has been evaluated as being Grade 2 of the Council's salary structure and offers a starting hourly rate circa $26 - $30 per hour (includes AWC allowance) (starting hourly rate depends on skills and experience) plus super and salary packaging options to increase your take-home pay.
