About the Opportunity
Parkes Shire Council is looking for a full-time Concreter to join our Operations team.
In this role you will assist with the construction and maintenance of Council's civil infrastructure including but not limited to the concreting of roads, footpaths, kerb and channeling, driveways, and stormwater drainage.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Concrete activities (including but not limited to formwork, pouring and screeding / finishing, etc.)
- Assist with general construction and maintenance tasks within the Operations section such as pothole repair, road maintenance, footpaths, cycleways, kerb and guttering, drainage, bridge structure, traffic control, etc.
- Assist with works survey set out.
- Operate and maintain small plant, tools and equipment.
- Other duties as required by Parkes Shire Council

About You
The successful applicant requires strong communication and teamwork skills. The nature of this position may require you to start work early and/or finish work late as work activities may be undertaken at outlying locations within the Shire.
To be successful in this position you will need:
- Current and maintained NSW Driver’s Licence
- SafeWork NSW Construction induction (White Card)
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of concreting including formwork, pouring and screeding/finishing.
- Demonstrated experience in civil construction and/or labouring.
- Ability and willingness to work in confined spaces, excavations and at heights.
It will be highly favorable if you possess any of the following:
- Certificate in Civil Construction or trade qualification or equivalent
- Plant Operations (machinery) tickets
- Medium Rigid (MR) NSW Drivers Licence or higher
- Traffic Control Qualifications: Traffic Controller and Implement Traffic Control plans
- Confined space training
- Working at heights training
- Experience in operating a range of construction plant items

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment.
The role has been evaluated as being Grade 5 of the Council's salary structure and offers a starting hourly rate circa $28 - $33 per hour (includes AWC allowance) (starting hourly rate depends on skills and experience) plus super and salary packaging options to increase your take-home pay.
