Business Support Officer - Governance, Risk and Corporate Performance

About the Opportunity

Parkes Shire Council is looking for a Business Support Officer to join our Governance, Risk and Corporate Performance team in Parkes, NSW. This is a fixed term role for a approximately nine (9) months until 28 February 2025. 

Secondment into the role will be considered. Please discuss with your supervisor, the hiring manager and/or the People, Safety and Culture team.

In this role, you will provide administrative support to the Manager and staff within the Governance, Risk and Corporate Performance team.  

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide administrative support to the team.
  • Support various departmental Committee Meetings with preparation of agendas and minute taking.
  • Customer service including phone and email enquiries.
  • Effective use of Council's Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS).
  • Reporting on the compliance of Council's financial purchasing processes.
  • Administrative support for Council's insurance portfolio. 
  • Assist in the development and delivery of Council's IP&R program.
  • Other duties as required by Parkes Shire Council

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate III in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in office and administrative support roles
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service including phone and email enquiries
  • Demonstrated experience in collating data and information
  • Current driver's licence.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Knowledge of the role, functions, and responsibilities of Local Government.
  • Understanding and experience in the use of electronic document and records management systems. 
  • Understanding of the administration of insurance, including claims management, premiums and public liability.
  • Understanding of IP&R programs.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment. 

The role has been evaluated as being Grade 8 of Council's salary structure and offers a weekly salary circa $1,100 to $1,300 ($33 to $38 per hour) (depending on skills and experience) plus super and salary packaging options to increase your take-home pay.
