EOI Secondment - Assistant Works Supervisor

About the Opportunity

Parkes Shire Council is looking for an Assistant Works Supervisor to join our Operations team in Parkes, NSW. This is a fixed term role for a period of two (2) years. You will be seconded into the role for the two (2) year period and will revert back to your primary role at the end of the secondment period.

In this role, you will assist the Works Supervisors in managing and overseeing the operations of Council's works crews. This will include the planning of project maintenance works programs, the monitoring of staff performance and the tracking of budgets. 

This is a great opportunity to upskill into a supervisory role.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working closely with the Works Supervisors to manage and oversee the daily operations of Council's Works crews.
  • Assist in the delivery and coordination of projects and maintenance programs. 
  • Implement asset management priorities including customer requests.
  • Ensure that plant and equipment is operated and maintained correctly. 
  • Liaise with external stakeholders for the estimation of works. 
  • Assist with onboarding of new staff.
  • Site supervision of project and maintenance programs.
  • Other duties as required by Parkes Shire Council

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate IV in Civil Construction or equivalent OR Extensive experience in civil construction with leadership and supervisory experience.
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Current driver's licence.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Relevant experience in a Local Government Environment.
  • Formal qualifications in Civil Construction and/or leadership and management or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment. 

The role has been evaluated as being Grade 10 of Council's salary structure and offers a salary circa $65,000 to $75,000 ($33 to $38 per hour) (depending on skills and experience) plus super and salary packaging options to increase your take-home pay.
