About the Opportunity
Due to the registered snake handler for Forbes and surrounding areas recently retiring, Council has been receiving a number of requests both internally and externally requesting the removal or the spotting of various reptiles.
As a result, Council is seeking expressions of interest from internal employees to undertake a reptile and venomous snake handling course.
The training requirements may consist of the following:
- Two (2) day Course in Reptile and Venomous Snake Handling - both practical and theory
- First Aid Training
- Application to receive a Licence to Catch and Release Reptiles
Pre-requisites:
To be able to undertake this training, you will be required to be:
- Over 18 years of age.
- Able to complete the training requirements
- Have previous reptile and venomous snake handling experience (Desirable not essential).
Please note:
Guidelines have not yet been developed for the catch and release of reptiles within Council's service or customer request systems. It is uncertain of the time commitments or the approval process to attend these requests.
It is expected that within the guidelines:
- You will only attend Council property requests.
- Catch and release of reptiles will not be for commercial or residential requests.
Due to no guidelines being developed, and pending the number of people that are willing to undertake the training, Council will review its processes and service requirements as to whether we will commence with the training.
